The True Anti-Establishment Candidate

Whatever side of the political spectrum you view things from, there is one concern that seems to be everywhere you turn – corruption in American politics. The politicians that have been voted to represent the interests of their constituents, more often than not, end up being swayed by third parties to pass measures that favor those third parties instead of the common man. Whether they are lobbyists for special interests or corporate entities, there’s always someone or something that won’t spare any expense to make sure their interests come first in the minds of the politicians.

It’s one of the more frustrating aspects of what many call “pay to play politics”, where the more money a person or entity has, the more influence their concerns have over those who are struggling to get by. That might be one of the reasons why there has been a rise in many “anti-establishment” candidates in this political season, where several politicians running for office have been trying to promote themselves as being above this type of bribery. Many potential voters “felt the Bern”, and were impassioned by Sen. Bernie Sanders’ sharp criticism of Wall Street and the income inequality that is shrinking the middle class. Even more find themselves compelled to “stump for Trump”, where they see in Donald Trump a man who claims to be an outsider candidate whose own personal wealth makes him immune to the funding offered by lobbyists. Perhaps you too have found yourself rooting for one of these politicians too, eager to see someone who’s concerned for your wellbeing and your interests.

But what if I told you there was another option for an anti-establishment candidate? What if I told you that there was someone who was completely above the corruption that comes with greed and pride, features all too common not only on a federal level, but on the state and municipal levels as well? The Bible has an answer for that, and that candidate is Jesus Christ.

Do you want someone who will hear your concerns, and not play favorites when enticed with wealth?

In the book of Isaiah, God tells us how Jesus will deal with that!

“And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;” (Isa 11:3-4 ESV)

Jesus isn’t going to let promises of riches and power influence his ability to see an issue clearly. We know this because right in the beginning of His ministry, he resisted that very urge when He was in the wilderness!

"Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, "All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, "'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'" (Mat 4:8-10)

Jesus Christ is coming back to Earth to reign in righteousness. When he does, there won’t be a lobbyist in the world that could bribe Him to deviate from being fair and impartial, or to neglect the concerns of those in need. And guess what? He has your best interests in mind, too. Why take a chance with a politician who is invested in the wealth and influence today? Cast your vote today and every day to let Jesus Christ be King in your life, and He will never neglect the things you need in this life and in the Kingdom to come.
